COEIC2017

Overview

Professor E.B. Gareth Jones who will turn 80 in January 2017, has been instrumental in collaborating with Asian mycologists and developing mycology, particularly in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand. In recent years, there have been rapid changes in fungal classification and phylogeny, knowledge of evolution, uses of molecular data in ecology and biotechnological uses of fungi, all areas of interest to Professor Gareth Jones. The conference is therefore held at MFU to update mycologists on these rapid changes and their implications and give Asian scientists a platform to present their own work as oral or poster presentations. The conference will also celebrate and pay a tribute to Professor Jones on his 80th birthday.

Abstract submissions will be peer reviewed and selected abstracts will be invited to submit a full manuscript. The manuscript will to be evaluated based on originality, technical and research content/depth, contributions and relevance to the conference. Accepted COEIC 2017 papers will be published in a special issue of the SCI journal Mycosphere
